The Empowering Women in STEM session, a collaborative initiative between WinSci and the IEEE ITU Chapter, was held to commemorate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This impactful event featured a single distinguished speaker, who delivered a powerful and personal talk on the significance of female representation in STEM fields. Drawing from her own journey in science and engineering, the speaker candidly addressed key issues such as gender stereotypes, confidence gaps, and systemic challenges that women often face in male-dominated technical disciplines. Her talk emphasized the importance of resilience, self-advocacy, and community-building in overcoming these barriers. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where participants—mostly university students—engaged in thoughtful dialogue about navigating academic and professional challenges, seeking mentorship, and fostering inclusive environments in STEM. The event left attendees inspired, informed, and more determined to push forward in their respective journeys.
